This CLE webinar will guide energy counsel on managing the interconnection process for renewable energy, energy storage, and distributed energy resources (DERs). The panel will discuss the interconnection of new generation and non-generating resources such as storage to the transmission and distribution systems and state-jurisdictional interconnections; challenges for renewable energy and energy storage resources, as well as offer best practices for counsel and owners.

Description

Developers are experiencing new challenges relating to the interconnection of renewable energy, energy storage, and DERs to the grid. Advancements in technology and changes in federal and state regulations as regulatory agencies and balancing authority areas attempt to address technology advancements require energy counsel to identify key issues and pitfalls to avoid to assist developers.

Federal and state requirements and evolving regulatory challenges can derail project development for renewables, battery storage, and DERs. Interconnection may be governed by either the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission or state regulatory agencies, and the challenges associated with interconnection vary by jurisdiction.

Listen as our panel discusses the process for interconnecting new energy generation and energy storage, meeting federal and state regulations and requirements, and entering into interconnection and related agreements. The panel will also offer their perspectives on challenges for renewable energy and energy storage resources and best practices for energy counsel and developers, and discuss qualifications for market participation and the resulting potential impacts on business and financing opportunities.
