Program Materials

This CLE webinar will provide attorneys representing renewable energy developers with an overview of offshore wind technology, discuss opportunities for funding and developing successful offshore wind projects, and explore current legal and regulatory issues.

Description

The Department of Energy estimates wind resources off U.S. coasts are capable of providing almost enough power for the entire nation. The agency recently announced 2011 Energy Department Grants for Offshore Wind Power totaling over $40 million, making the projects more feasible than ever before.

However, current state and federal policies create complicated legislative and regulatory challenges for developers. Attorneys for renewable energy companies must navigate continually evolving legal requirements to utilize policies that support wind energy projects.

Counsel must consult with and advise their clients on factors that contribute to successful offshore wind development including those related to complicated technologies of turbines and electricity transmission and the delicate relationships between developers and communities.

Listen as our authoritative panel of energy attorneys, the Department of Energy Offshore Wind Manager, an official from an offshore wind developer, and a technical authority on offshore wind projects discusses the best practices for obtaining government funding and developing an offshore wind project.
