This CLE webinar will provide counsel for hospitals, physicians and other healthcare providers the information needed to determine whether to participate in CMS' new Pioneer ACO Model program. The panel will provide an in-depth discussion of the program's key components.

Description

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' (CMS) Pioneer Accountable Care Organization (ACO) Model program is the latest initiative to encourage the development of ACOs. Healthcare providers that wish to participate must submit a letter of intent to CMS by June 10, 2011.

The new initiative encourages providers to join together as an ACO to coordinate care and rewards improvements to the effectiveness and efficiency of patient care. The establishment of the Pioneer ACO Model program follows CMS’ proposed regulations implementing the Medicare Shared Savings Program.

The Pioneer program intends to support organizations that are suitable to serve as ACOs to test innovations that differ from those in the Shared Savings Program, including payment arrangements entitling ACOs to incentive payments of as much as 70% of the savings achieved for Medicare.

Listen as our authoritative panel of healthcare attorneys provides an in-depth discussion of the Pioneer program's key components, analyzes the alternative payment arrangements available for Pioneer ACOs, compares the Pioneer ACO Model program with the Medicare Shared Savings program, and discusses the application process.
