2017 Changes to AIA Contract Documents: What Construction Lawyers Need to Know

Insurance and Bonds Exhibit, New Owner-Contractor Documents, New Owner-Architect Agreements and More

A live 90-minute CLE webinar with interactive Q&A

Thursday, September 28, 2017 (in 6 days)
1:00pm-2:30pm EDT, 10:00am-11:30am PDT

This CLE webinar will explain key modifications to the AIA Construction Contracts Documents which were released in 2017. The panel will devote significant attention to the creation of the Insurance and Bonds Exhibit.

Description

AIA contract documents are the industry standard for managing contractual relationships in construction and design projects. The AIA released its newest revisions of its contract documents in April 2017.

Revisions to the Owner-Contractor Documents include changes to termination provisions and changes to financing and payment provisions. Revisions to the Owner-Architect Agreements include provisions for intellectual property rights, changes to termination provisions, changes to administration/compensation and the sustainability focus in E204 Exhibit.

A significant revision to the 2017 documents is the Insurance and Bonds Exhibit to be used with the A101-2017, A102-2017 and A103-2017, and with the revised Insurance and Bonds provision of A201-2017. These revisions acknowledge the complex nature of construction project insurance and are intended to focus on insurance and risk mitigation in contract negotiations.

Listen as our authoritative panel of construction attorneys walks you through the key modifications of the AIA Contract Documents released in 2017. The panel will also focus on the creation of the new Insurance and Bonds Exhibit intended to ensure that insurance and risk mitigation become an integral part of the contract negotiation process.
