This CLE webinar will provide counsel and advisers serving elderly clients with a focused review of rules, regulations, and other items regarding VA benefits and long-term care (LTC) planning. The panel will discuss VA and Medicaid eligibility requirements, achieving asset protection, and tax savings for clients. The panel will also offer LTC planning techniques in light of current VA benefit rules and regulations.

Description

Of the tens of millions of veterans and their spouses currently living in the U.S., millions require LTC or will need it soon.

According to the VA, many of these veterans and surviving spouses may be eligible for special monthly pension benefits after they are 65, are permanently disabled and unable to work, are homebound, or need the regular aid and attendance of another.

Coordinating VA benefits and Medicaid for LTC requires careful planning. When filing a claim for VA benefits or gifting assets to qualify a veteran or spouse for special monthly pension benefits, counsel must understand the complex Medicaid eligibility requirements to avoid loss of potential benefits.

Listen as our authoritative panel examines the VA benefits and Medicaid eligibility requirements, the VA asset limitation test, the no look-back or penalty period, and resource limits. The panel will offer best practices for meeting VA benefits and Medicaid benefits eligibility and application requirements.
