This CLE webinar will provide energy counsel guidance on effective methods in financing energy storage projects and overcoming regulatory compliance challenges in deal structures. The panel will discuss key compliance challenges impacting energy storage, effective deal structures for financing and mitigating risks, and key tax considerations in developing and financing energy storage projects.

Description

Energy storage can provide many benefits and play many roles, but it does not always fit neatly into a familiar legal landscape within the energy sector. Counsel must develop a complete understanding of the regulatory challenges, financing options and deal structures to minimize risks along with key tax considerations to ensure the success of an energy storage project.

The continued success of the use of renewable energy for electrical power depends on the effective management of the variable output of wind, solar and other alternative energy resources. Storing energy for later use when production is low is an essential element of the management of electrical systems. This fact has garnered a wave of battery-energy storage project financings and an increase in utility procurement of battery storage projects.

Investors and lenders intending to take advantage of the need for energy storage must be aware of a variety of legal, compliance and tax issues associated with energy storage projects. Counsel must be knowledgeable of the regulatory treatment of battery storage in certain jurisdictions, techniques in structuring deals to minimize risks and other related items with far-reaching implications if not properly considered.

Listen as our panel discusses recent federal and state developments in energy storage, overcoming regulatory compliance challenges, key considerations in structuring transactions relating to the development and financing of energy storage projects, and related tax issues.
