This CLE webinar will provide oil and gas attorneys with a detailed analysis of the impact of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) on oil and gas production, operations, and investments. The panel will discuss the new methane emissions fees, exceptions, and methods of offsetting such costs and exceptions, offshore oil and gas royalties, offshore oil and gas leases and sales, excise taxes, carried interest, and other key items impacting oil and gas.

Description

The IRA encompasses significant provisions impacting oil and gas as it bolsters clean energy initiatives. Counsel must understand essential modifications and inclusions to recognize the IRA's impact on developers, producers, and investors within the oil and gas industry.

The IRA provides certain provisions that must be considered for those within the oil and gas industry, including (1) the new 15 percent alternative minimum tax; (2) a one percent excise tax on stock buybacks; (3) the reinstatement of the Hazardous Substance Superfund; (4) methane emissions fees; and (5) increased royalties on offshore oil and gas. Each of these items can significantly alter current production and operations and certain oil and gas transactions.

Listen as our panel discusses new oil and gas requirements, fees, and exceptions under the IRA, the impact on offshore oil and gas, and other items impacting developers, operators, and investors.
