Worker, Retiree and Employer Recovery Act of 2008
Employer Pension Plans: Taking Advantage of the New Changes
Recording of a 90-minute CLE teleconference with Q&A
Conducted on Tuesday, March 10, 2009
Recorded event now available
This seminar will review the new Worker, Retiree and Employer Recovery Act of 2008 and outline steps plan sponsors should take now to take advantage of the Act’s relief provisions.
Description
In response to the continuing economic crisis, Former President Bush signed the Worker, Retiree and Employer Recovery Act of 2008 on December 23, providing companies with temporary relief from the stringent pension funding requirements of the Pension Protection Act of 2006 (PPA).
Specifically, the new law modifies pension distribution requirements for businesses, delays imposition of some pension plan funding requirements under the PPA, and makes technical corrections to the PPA.
It is critical that counsel to plan sponsors and administrators become fully aware of the deadlines, options and changes required by the new law in order to benefit from the relief bill.
Listen as our panel of employee benefits and tax attorneys reviews the changes imposed by the new law and their impact on employer pension plans. The seminar will outline the steps plan sponsors should take now to take advantage of the Act’s relief provisions.
