in Key Security Activities

and Premises Liability Report
Corporate security leaders can't manage what they can't measure. They need to identify core operating activities and devise a way to measure results, before they can make informed judgments about whether their department is effectively and efficiently protecting the company's people and assets.
No security exec can get ahead without using metrics to align the security department's performance with the company’s business goals. Senior company management will shoot down any funding request that isn't supported by hard data and trend analysis.
But, smart use of security metrics is only half the battle. Only by amassing comparative benchmarks, from both within and outside the company, can security execs make well-informed decisions about whether performance goals are being met.
Listen as our panel of veteran security professionals and advisors helps you craft a realistic, effective approach to measuring and benchmarking security performance.
Our panel included:
Raymond Bernard, President and Principal Consultant, Raymond Bernard Consulting Services, Lake Forest, Calif. He runs a physical and IT security/building automation consulting firm. His clients include commercial airports, nuclear power plants and sports stadiums, and he writes for several security publications.
Steve Chupa, Director of Worldwide Security, Johnson & Johnson, New Brunswick, N.J. He has spent the last 25 years at Johnson & Johnson and has worked in private security or law enforcement for 34 years. He was the 2007 President of ASIS International.
Ben Scaglione, Security Director, New York Presbyterian Hospital, New York. He has more than 25 years of experience in corporate security and law enforcement and is an adjunct professor of security management at New Jersey City University.
Osvaldo Font, Security Director for Southeast Region, Cardinal Health, Atlanta. He has 22 years of corporate experience, including 14 in security operations and investigations, and four years of military experience. At Cardinal Health, he is responsible for securing 115 facilities.
Michael Scribner, Head of Security Technical Support and Development, Navistar International Corp., Warrenville, Ill.
The panel helps jump-start your metrics- and benchmarking-based management by giving new insights and a fresh appreciation of how you can:
- Evaluate which of the many security activities and systems are most crucial to the company’s mission, and which can be managed with a less quantitative approach.
- Decide how to measure those key activities and who will be responsible for reporting and assembling data.
- Make sound business decisions and recommendations based on data, and know when you need more information.
- Determine how to glean useful benchmarking data from other companies in your market or industry from reports or your own survey tools, without burdensome cost or labor.
