Recording of a 90-minute CLE webinar/teleconference with Q&A

Conducted on Tuesday, September 25, 2012
Recorded event now available

This CLE webinar will provide guidance to counsel for companies doing business internationally on how government agencies treat gifts and hospitality violations. The panel will offer best practices to help companies, their employees and agents avoid violating the gift and hospitality constraints of the FCPA.

Description

A common challenge facing companies and those subject to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) is the handling of gifts and hospitality to and from government representatives. Determining whether a gift is a lawful expression consistent with a country’s culture or one that constitutes bribery is difficult.

U.S. Department of Justice advisory opinions and recent cases are instructive on the types of gift and hospitality practices that pose significant risk and when companies should exercise caution in their activities.

Gifts, travel and entertainment are high risk areas for which companies doing business internationally need to implement safeguards to ensure compliance. Counsel must understand the steps that can be taken to minimize THE RISK OF gift and hospitality violations under the FCPA.

Listen as our authoritative panel of practitioners experienced with FCPA challenges examines the provisions of the law that address gifts and hospitality, discusses DOJ advisory opinions and recent cases, and offers best practices for compliance.
